What exactly does my sponsorship contribution do for the children of Maissade?
A chance for a child or a family to begin a path to financial independence. The contribution goes directly to buy an animal (goat, pig, chicken) in the name of the child being sponsored

How can I be sure the child benefits from the program?
Every sponsored child will be given ownership of an animal in the farm and will be trained to care for that animal. Check our listing of sponsored children to see the progress of the program.

What is National Heritage Foundation?
NHF (www.nfh.org) promotes people-to-people projects by setting up "Foundations at NHF" (FANHFs) in the areas of charitable, educational, scientific or religious activities as described in Section 170 of the Internal Revenue Code as amended. By consolidating the administration of these charitable projects, NHF lowers costs to minimum levels and in our case will help us focus on helping the children .

Can two people sponsor a child?
A family or a group can sponsor a child if they wish. However, keep in mind that $33 for an entire year is a very modest amount. We encourage each person to sponsor one or more kids.

For how long is my commitment to sponsor a child?
Our hope is that a child will be sponsored for no more than 2 years. By then, his/her animal will have grown and multiplied, bringing more animals to his/her family and to the program. At that time, you may decide to sponsor another child.

Can I communicate with the child I am sponsoring?
We are in constant communication with APDM via the Internet. We will provide a printed copy of your email to the child you sponsor.

What if I decide to discontinue my sponsorship?
You are free to make such decision at any time, no questions asked. We will try to find another sponsor for the child. We encourage you to transfer your sponsorship to a friend, if you can.

Is there someone in charge of the program in Maissade?
The program is run by a youth organization, APDM (Association of devoted People of Maissade), which has been working in Maissade since 1999. Its 200 members focus mainly on education, health care and agriculture.

Can I select the child I wish to sponsor?
Yes, you can check the list and select any child or children you want to sponsor. Once you have completed the form and sent your contribution, your name and state/country will then be listed next to the child or children you are sponsoring. (If you wish to remain anonymous, we will just put “sponsored” next to the name of the child/ren).

Are there other ways I can help besides sponsoring a child?
Encourage others to sponsor a child, spread the word about the program. You may also help us with several educational programs or help us run small fund drives. Contact us for further suggestions.

What if I want to visit the child I am sponsoring?
We can definitely make arrangements for you to visit Maissade.  This of course will require some planning, our hope is that one day each sponsor will be able to visit the Farm Project.
