EDEM, in cooperation with APDM (Association of devoted people
of Maissade/Association Peuple Devoué de Maissade), is launching a new project this year to help kids in Maissade become
more independent and self-sufficient. We have acquired 10 acres donated to the community to open a new farm.
The farm will host the livestock acquired with your donations, and will serve the needs of the children
and the community. The farm will also serve as a learning and community center where both adults and
children will be able to acquire valuable knowledge on farming, agriculture, and basic health care.
APDM is a young association of close to 200 youths, who will use the expertise of many of its members
in agriculture and health care to run the program.
The farm project
will cover the followings needs:
Economy: You investment
of $33 will help us purchase goats, pigs, chicken and other animals for
the farm. Every sponsored child will be given ownership of an animal in
the farm and will be trained to care for that animal.
Education: A community center will be built in the farm to serve as a
learning center for both children and adults of the community.
Health Care: The farm will also include a water system using a solar
pump. This will help us provide clean and pure water to the community.
Environment: To protect the environment and control the odor from the
farm, a biodigester will be built to capture the manure from the animal
and manage all the waste from the farm. We are also working with other
organizations to plant various trees.
Energy: The biodigester will also generate methane gas to be used for
water purification, cooking and possibly run a small bakery.
Please help us by investing in the life of a child,
