RATRAP

RATRAP (Rassemblement Travailleurs Paysan) was founded in 1994 by Haiti Projects. It is a micro-lending program with a small revolving loan fund for the purchase of hand tools: picks, hoes, and the handsome serpette, the universal hand tool for cultivating the soil in Haiti. RATRAP is a leader in community development. It recently joined with 3 other community organizations in launching a goat project under the micro-lending principles.

In 2001, RATRAP went on to local management. It holds monthly educational meetings, attended in large numbers. RATRAP teaches rejuvenation of depleted soil, measures to address soil erosion, animal care, with the goal of bettering the management of family plots and animals to combat malnutrition.

How Can You Help?

RATRAP's primary need is for educational videos-preferably in creole-on the care of the land and prevention of soil erosion and depletion.
Talking is one thing but seeing with one’s own eyes brings the message home.
